This game teaches students to differentiate between the expository and narrative writing genres. The first player chooses a card. After reading the card, player #1 must decide if the paragraph is expository or narrative writing. The other player checks the answer sheet. If player #1 is correct, he/she rolls the die and moves forward the indicated number of spaces. The game continues until one player reaches the writing award on the exact throw of the die. This game teaches students the appropriate use of vocabulary and alternative words. The teacher allots two minutes for teams to place all the word cards in their appropriate boxes: happy words, sad words, angry words and scared words. Teams are awarded points for the highest number of correctly placed words. Students clear off words and mix them up. Teacher once again allots two minutes but for happy words only. Game continues through each set of vocabulary words. After all words have been used, repeat step one to check improvement. Game comes with two coated game sheets, 80 vocabulary word cards and complete instructions. |
